|2018 is here! In preparation for the new year, our experts compiled a list of the top 7 digital marketing future trends you should be keeping an eye on in 2018. If you don’t already have these worked into your marketing strategy, consider making room. Find out the top 7 future trends below!
1. ADA Website Compliance
Millions of individuals suffer from some form of impairment that prevents them from navigating the web in a manner that most of us take for granted. Not only is it the right thing to do to create websites that allow those with a disability to access online information easily, it’s now legally required.
From a business perspective, you’ve been overlooking a tremendous opportunity to expose yourself to a market that’s being ignored by a lot of competitors. As ADA compliance becomes more in-demand, not only are we going to be doing the right thing, but it’s also a win because you’re reaching more prospects in a way that you were missing previously.

2. Conversion Rate Optimization
Content marketing, SEO, and social media have been kind of the sexy things for agencies like us to sell for a long time. But we’ve really been overlooking the conversion rate optimization (CRO) world. That’s the industry trend that is going to move the needle the most for clients right now.
Let’s say you are getting a thousand visitors to your webpage every week and you’re converting at 3%. If you can make alterations to your website to allow you to convert at 6 or 7%, now you’re more than doubling your leads. And these are created before you spend any additional marketing funds on website traffic.
Now as you begin to optimize social media or SEO, you’re going to see a higher ROI based on your CRO. I think CRO is a tremendous way to maximize marketing budgets. You can take a website from a billboard that exists online, to a real salesperson. Your website can generate revenue in a space where most of your prospects are going to be interacting with you first.

3. Advanced Animation
I think taking advantage of scalable vector graphics (SVG’s) and cascading style sheets (CSS) to create animations will be popular in 2018. I’m looking forward to this trend because most of the sites that I visit are still using static photos and texts. Static graphics can sometimes make the user experience plain and boring.

4. Mobile Navigation
I don’t think the mobile navigation in full screen trend is going away anytime soon. As a result, I also think you’ll see slideshows all but disappear and see video and animations become more prominent than they are currently.

5. Labor Outsourcing to Domestic Agencies
At this point, overseas digital agencies have developed a bad reputation of using black hat tactics to rank sites. This, coupled with google algorithm improvements, are leading many companies to seek agencies domestically.
Also, because SEM and Digital marketing are incredibly specialized fields, this means that companies are less likely to hire internal labor. They are much more likely to hire external, specialized labor, while retaining overall marketing direction control. Many fortune 500 companies outsource digital marketing already, and I expect this trend to continue into 2018.

6. Content Marketing
Blogging and other content marketing is going to be completely transformed in 2018. Traditional blogging is not moving the needle for most customers, and increasingly creative endeavors are required. Content marketing will become more mixed and designed to move people through the sales funnel quicker.
